Risky Relationships was created for use as a game/activity/simulation that illustrates the many complications and implications dating at a young age can have on the adolescent and can be of value for any teen population mature enough to discuss the issues it presents. In addition to dating violence, Risky Relationships asks teens to consider the impact underage drinking, pre-marital sex and pregnancy, bullying, abuse and neglect play in determining whether violence or abuse will become a problem in their lives.
The kit contains a complete set of simulation cards for 8 different characters, and may be played by 8 individuals or in a classroom by pairing 2 or 3 students per character.
This activity is similar to In Her Shoes, a simulation depicting the consequences of domestic violence created by the Washington Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Community Partnership/Cafe Prevention is grateful to this coalition for their original production of In Her Shoes which served as the inspiration for Risky Relationships. Arrangements have been made to produce and sell this kit at cost.
