Melvy here, checking in from Orlando. It's been a quick couple of days, and I didn't want to wind down our trip to UDETC's National Leadership Conference without posting a quick blog about my journey.
This visit to the conference has been my personal third, and this time has been the best by far. Everyone, from California to Maine, North Dakota to Floria, has been wonderful to share their experiences with me. They've been very open about their successes and struggles in preventing underage drinking and other substance abuses in their communities that I have found that we all share common problems. And, by working together and sharing stategies, we can not only find more success in changing societal norms, reducing underage alcohol use and binge drinking, and tackling substance abuse problems proactively, but we can also motivate and revitalize each other to keep up the good work!
One of the main takeaways from me is the power of new tech-driven media in our fight to battle underage drinking. We at Community Partnership are on Facebook and Twitter, for those of you who didn't know, but you might just see us on Flickr and YouTube soon - all exciting ventures ahead for us who partner together. Let's stay connected!
Your partner in prevention,
Melvy
