Target: Middle/High School Teens
Description:
Risky Relationships was created for use as a game/activity that illustrates the many complications and implications dating at a young age can have on the adolescent.
All you need to facilitate Risky Relationships is included in the kit.
The teen years are traditionally years of experimentation and new experiences. It is expected that teens will occasionally make foolish choices. What is not expected is that 30% to 50% of today's high school females have reported that they have experienced teen dating violence.
Risky Relationships can be of value for any teen population mature enough to discuss the issues it presents. In addition to dating violence, Risky Relationships asks teens to consider the impact underage drinking, pre-marital sex and pregnancy, bullying, abuse and neglect play in determining whether violence or abuse will become a problem in their lives.
Risky Relationships can help open a door to allow for a thought provoking discussion on issues vital to teen's health and safety.
This activity is similar to In Her Shoes, a simulation depicting the consequences of domestic violence, created by the Washington Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Community Partnership is grateful to this coalition for their original production of In Her Shoes which served as the inspiration for Risky Relationships.
Arrangements have been made to produce and sell this kit at cost. |
